Polaroid fame are not difficult to explain. believe 1980s “modern” rock, from English beat to The remedy to The Police, with clean, contemporary production. Or believe Duran Duran without the wailing. Or, if you’re into esoteric Australian postpunk, think The Frankie Band–because Frankie Kimpton is the frontman of this Byron Bay band. They’ve won some awards as well as stuff, however exactly how crucial is that, really? The genuine concern is, can they do something fascinating while being retro? Do they have their own sound, or just crib from well established masters? The solution to those concerns are, happily, indeed as well as yes. I had a bit bit of difficulty getting into this band, since I’m a huge Colin Hay fan as well as he quite much does this exact same thing. however as I listened, track by track, the album truly grew on me. The synth work is nearly subtle, which is a unusual find, the vocals are solid as well as the percussion as well as bass . . . genuinely awesome. as well as any individual who understands the ’80s understands that without a great beat, the tunes were crap. I bet these people are a great deal of fun live. So, if you’re reading this from Down Under, go inspect ’em out.
